Happy Friday

Kebabs, punk-rock, wild texting & late night cartoons in a made-too-well hotel bed: good Friday, good Friday.

Plant the seeds

No one has ever grown a garden. (The universe/God/Mother Nature does that.) But they have planted the seeds, held a vision, and cared for it, day-by-day-by-day.

Apocalypse not now please

Egypt has partially descended into anarchy. Queensland is preparing for yet another national disaster. The weather elsewhere in Australia is that bloody sweltering that kids, grannies & pets are being warned to stay watered & air-conditioned.

Really hoping the apocalypse isn’t coming. I have too many things I want to accomplish before the end of the world!

Thoughts & prayers to those protesting for a revolution, those prepping for wild weather & those who wish they were sitting in an ice bath with endless bottles of water and plenty of ice blocks (preferably chocolate Paddlepops).

Kids these days

Girl’s Facebook status: “Omg I love you Kurt!”
Male friend: “Are you listening to Nirvana?”
Girl: “Ah no. I’m watching Glee.”

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

Happy Australia Day!

Mine included lamb & snags on the barbie, lolling in the pool under the summer sun & attempting to teach a Siberian Husky how to swim… All with Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown as the backing music. Best.

Partying on a school night

A Chinese feast, a bottle of Sangiovese rose & one of the best gigs I’ve seen in a long time add up to one fabulous Monday night!

A note to future lovers…

…Don’t go too hardcore on the hickeys:

“A woman was partially paralysed by a love bite from her amorous partner, a New Zealand doctor has reported…┬áThere was a clot in the artery underneath where the hickey was.┬áThe clot had gone into the woman’s heart and caused a minor stroke that led to the loss of movement.”

Make up makeover

As part of my holy-crap-I’m-nearly-25 awakening, I’ve decided that my make up bag needs to grow the hell up. I’ve always been a mascara, lip balm & concealer kid but now that my mate Katie is on board with Napoleon Perdis, she’s forcing spiritedly encouraging me to obsess over liquid liner, colourful eye shadow & experiment with the occasional bold lip. (For my last makeover courtesy of Napoleon’s Katie, see this post)

I popped in today to see her & walked out with this:

Napoleon purchases

Camera Finish powder, (I’ve never owned powder – my powder-obsessed grandmother turned me off it. Naturally Katie was mortified that I never use it.) a lip pencil, (another item I’ve never really cared for) a light orange sherbet-y colour lipstick & an eyeshadow quad called “Earth” with olive greens & a rich deep blue.

So now I’ve cleaned out all my old stuff, pulled together all the new stuff & am pumped to get ready for work tomorrow; all powdered, lips-lined & lids coloured!

Getting older, getting wiser

My mum has always told me that I don’t know the difference between my needs and my wants. I admit, I have been known to say that I neeed those leopard print shoes.

Now that I’m fast approaching 25 though, I’m finding that the things I really want, are the things I really do need. While I’m still obsessed with clothes & shoes, I know there are plenty of other things I actually need.

Wants are nice to have and to fulfill but needs, well, need to come first; even if they are something money can’t buy.
