Helena Bonham Crazy Pants

Helena Bonham Crazy-Pants

Please, just once Helena, can you just dress nice? I just want to see what you look like when you aren’t playing some Tim Burton crazy lady & when you’re wearing matching shoes.

Just once. Then you can go back to wearing your crazy pants. Just once.

Little Wayne thinks the bible is “deep”

Ah rappers.

Fresh out of the slammer, Little Wayne has told reporters (via SMH) that during his (eight) months behind bars he devoured plenty of books including biographies of fellow performers Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, and Anthony Kiedis. One addition to his library check-out though really blew him away. Yes, Lil’ Wayne kicked back in the big house with a copy of the bible.

When asked what he thought of the tome, the rapper said that while he thought it was “deep”, it also had some “cool” moments:

“It was deep! I liked the parts where some character was once this, but he ended up being that. Like he’d be dissing Jesus, and then he ends up being a saint. That was cool.”

And with conjugal visits off the menu, he also had the chance to become a mad Uno player. So mad in fact that his fellow jailbirds would sneak off to play without him.

“They’d be like, ‘Oh, we thought you were asleep,’,” Wayne said. He would reply: “Like you can’t look inside my cell and see that I’m right there! We ain’t got no doors!”

“I’d bust a n—-‘s ass at Uno. We gamble for phone time. I’d take n—-‘s commissary: Lemme get them cookies, lemme get them chips, get that soup.”

Given Little Wayne’s time was served for gun offenses, hopefully he keeps using the Uno deck as his best weapon.

Ah rappers. Let this be a lesson kids: stay in school.

Daily outfit: On the set

Today was taken up with the final filming for the new TVC & DVD for work so the outfit needed to be functional & fun (kids on set – first-time actors & they were fantastic & patient!) without straying too far from the dress code.

Daily Outfit 19Jan

I clashed some fun prints (Jacket by Bettina Liano & top from Free People) and anchored them with neutral basics (Jeans & bag from Jeans West, shoes from Zu, vintage belt & ring from Lovisa)

Autumn accessories

I rocked the glasses due to the cloudy skies – cloudy skies didn’t save me from sunburn though… Not loving the red half moon on my chest right now!

Daily Outfit Jan19-2

Breakfast beauty: Chorizo omlette

Damn straight I’m awesome in the kitchen. Ima gonna make me a good wife someday!

Blessing of the day

…looking at photos from 6 months ago & realising how much better off you are now, even though you thought you’d never be happier than you were in that moment.

Every day is better than the last & every hour brings you closer to your dreams. You never know how close you are, so never, never, never give up.

NOTE: More exciting posts to begin soon: back-to-work week has been more tiring than I thought it would be! In the days to come, expect to check out some of my daily outfits, read about Milan Fashion week and cop some commentary on the non-flood news of the week.

30 pounds of mac & cheese

So apparently Oprah did eat the whole wheel of cheese*. More specifically, she ate half an Olsen twin worth of mac & cheese when she started spiraling into depression years back. (Watch the interview snippet for more)

When it comes to comfort food, I’ve found that the best benefit comes from eating tasty goodness that has some nutritional qualities; ie, not plastic cheese-coated pasta.

Did you know brown rice is loaded with magnesium, a mineral which does wonders for ones mental health & anxiety levels? Or what about raising a sweat, upping your metabolism & getting some vitamin-boosting veggies into you with a chilli-laden stirfry?

If cheesy carbs assist you like nothing else to lift your mood or enable momentary wallowing though, try mashing potato (bonus points for using sweet potato!) with a whack of minced garlic, a good sprinkling of salt & pepper and a spoonful of ricotta – slightly cheesy goodtimes with a lot less regret than that which comes with 30 pounds of mac & cheese.

Honestly. Is that some kind of record? That’s a preschooler!

*Anchorman reference. You really should’ve known that already though. If you didn’t, get thee to blockbuster, stat.

Flats are back for 2011

How much do I want just about every single pair of these new season shoes, as published on Fashionologie? Especially the below Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse ballet flats – so cute, without approaching sad Hello Kitty territory!

I bought a pair of grey oxfords from Zu this week but I just can’t get enough of closed-toe flats – perfect for work & play!

Things I Love Thursday

As inspired by Miss Gala Darling, here are the things I love, on this Thursday:
• Taking two whole days off from the gym & feeling so amped to get back first thing tomorrow morning
• Spending time with old friends – nothing beats that
• Knowing I’m back at work in four more sleeps! While everyone else around the place seems to hate being back at their respective jobs, I miss being in my office with my work people- I’m not very good at having time off to do nothing… Hence the increase in time spent at the gym!
• Moments of clarity
• The guy that plays the lead love interest in Burlesque. Hottt. (The movie was much better than expected actually. Aguilera has the greatest voice ever and, for a 307-year-old, Cher is surprisingly 40-looking. Note me down her surgeon & come back to me when I’m 63)
• Donating to the Queensland floods appeal. Do it.
• Chats with the grandmother
• Sleeping stretched out in your own bed

Queensland floods

More than 75% of Queensland is, or has been, underwater – an area larger than France & Germany combined. The Brisbane CBD has been majority evacuated & power will be cut there in the morning. At time of writing this, 10 people have lost their lives & many more are missing, feared dead.

Just 4 months ago, I was in Brisbane, staying in a hotel that would now be well-flooded.

My thoughts & prayers are with everyone affected.
